Rude teachers who only work for the money and have no interest in bettering the students

Very bad school. I would 100% not recommend. They care more about the uniform than the education and well-being of students. THE GOOGLE PHOTOS ARE FAKE! EVERYONES SECRETLY DEPRESSED BEHIND THE SCENES.

didn't even want to give one star! This school has to be the worst in my opinion and MANY MANY others that I have heard about. The bullying is absolutely ridiculous. The school prides itself in being supportive to every student, but that is far from the truth. THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. This school made my daughter depressed. Do you want that for your daughter? I wouldn't think so.I had to write this review because I'm furious to hear the same thing is happening to someone else's daughter. SO don't let your daughter suffer like mine and others have. My daughter left the school a year ago and she's so happy now. Different person. Do what's best for your daughter and don't let her go to Iona. I think they should really discipline their students and teach them what bullying is. They need a huge awakening. My daughter told the school about the bullying and they left her to suffer. EXPEL THE BULLIES. at least suspend them. My daughter was the one not coming to school, they abandoned her and let the bullies get the education. Disappointing.

In 2001, I was called a "dirty n***a" by another student. I then advised a teacher and my peers. Nothing happened on behalf of the adults. My parents then contacted hers, and she never returned to the school. Then, in 2003, another student was bullying another child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I approached the bully, after learning that the teachers didn't support its students. The student then never returned to the school, from my understanding, due to me confronting her of bullying my friend with ASD. In January 2004, I visited the school counsellor, I was having a breakdown from depression due to the bullying in the school and the treatment by its teachers. The counsellor did not say a word to me, however, a teacher then repeated a sentence to me, that I disclosed to only the counsellor..They had spoken about my case, amongst eachother, but with no intervention or support provided directly to me. Then, at the very end of 2004, when I was in Year 11, the religion teacher, and also my form teacher, bullied my peer with ASD at assembly, she was always the target of bullying, due to being different. Infront of the whole school assembly, my peer broke down. The teacher smiled at the other students, making a gesture to nonverbally indicate that this child was "weird and uncontrollable". I stood up and confronted the teacher. I was then called into the Principals office (Principal at that time) and asked to leave the school grounds where my future at IONA would be considered and I would "hear from them". I was suspended for the entirety of the last week of school in 2004. During the Christmas holidays, my family received a letter, revealing my expulsion and noting, "perhaps she should consider TAFE". No meeting to discuss the outcome, no opportunity for myself and my family to enrol me in another school prior to the 2005 (my final year of school-year 12) school year. I was lucky enough to then enrol into Shenton College and complete my studies, where I thrived. I had never been so happy. I went on to complete my Honours and then a post graduate. Always thinking about IONAs comments and how it impacted me, and how hurtful this could of been to my future if I was more vulnerable and blinded by their culture and beliefs. Fortunately I was not. The year after my expulsion, I received an email from my English teacher, probably one of the only level headed teachers, apologising for the way the school dealt with me, and to continue being me. Years have now passed, and I still think about the ways in how I was so unfairly treated, and how others were. I would of left this...Until I then found out that the school wrote letters to those connected to the school in 2017, asking for them to consider Voting "NO" to marriage equality. This school is painful.
